by Elizabeth R. Blandon
Like a latter-day Ben & Jerry, my grandfather -- Isidro Morales Lara -- believed that businesses should demonstrate the core values of the owners. The proprietor of a sweets factory in Cuba, he gave generously to the poor and employed persons as much for their character as for their abilities. In appreciation of his belief that businesses should be more, not less, responsible when financial times are toughest, Blandon Law continues to lead with its values.
Donations
A portion of the Firm’s legal fees are used for the benefit of various immigrant-related organizations, including the following:
The American Immigration Law Foundation is dedicated to increasing public understanding of immigration law and policy and the value of immigration to American society. Through its zealous legal advocacy and policy papers, AILF advances fundamental fairness and due process under the law for immigrants. More information on the organization is available at http://www.ailf.org/main_about.asp.
The League of United Latin American Citizens advances the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, health and civil rights of Hispanic Americans through community-based programs. The organization involves and serves all Hispanic nationality groups. Historically, LULAC has focused heavily on education, civil rights, and employment for Hispanics. A former recipient of a LULAC scholarship, Ms. Blandon donates specifically to educational programs through the LULAC National Educational Service Centers.
